What is Cranial Osteopathy?
Cranial osteopaths use a highly developed sense of touch to identify changes of tension and tissue quality in the body and in particular the bones of the skull to diagnose areas of strain or dysfunction.
The osteopath is often drawn to parts of the body that have been affected by events, such as accidents and injuries. The body may have learned to compensate for a traumatic event or injury and the patient may be unaware that there is anything wrong. However the effects may still be relevant to current symptoms.
As with classic osteopathy, diagnosis and treatment are intimately linked and the practitioner works to assist the bodies ability to heal itself by offering gentle support where it is needed, bringing the tissues into a state of balance and restoring health.
Cranial osteopathy is particularly effective with children and infants. It is a gentle, safe and effective approach to the treatment of a wide range of problems in the whole body.
